Computer techniques involving fractals and similar mechanisms can be used to construct random landscapes. Such landscapes can be used in simulators for various environments (e.g., computer games, flight simulators). The goal of this project is to construct a general-purpose landscape simulator (by, for example, using "plasma techniques"). The user should be able to control the general nature of the landscape by selecting appropriate parameters. The depth and the general direction of this project will be determined by the student. Some students might wish to add features to the landscape and others might wish to concentrate on the texture of the landscape.
